If you want to feel the exotic beauty and fiery passion of Latin dancing, you can start off with learning Bachata. Basically, this dance form, which originated in the Dominican Republic, involves slow to snappy turns, shakes and sways, as you dance close with your partner. Also, Bachata is a great starter for people who are eager to learn Latin dancing in all forms and disciplines.

Since Bachata has the ability to unleash your grace and passion in dancing, you should think about learning it today! It’s not enough to just adore the dance; if you think you can dance it, you surely can! Yet, you will need an instructor to teach you this dance form, the best and most enjoyable way possible for you. That’s why we’re here to the rescue.

We offer Bachata dance classes for kids and adults. Our classes are divided into 3 levels: beginner, intermediate and expert. Plus, you’ll never have to fret about not learning and executing the steps well, as our expert instructors will teach and guide you in every step of the way.

Specific Dance Moves to Learn in Class

  •        Bachata Basic Step

Before you move on to more complex steps, it’s important that you master the basic step in Bachata. This dance move is absolutely a no-brainer, since all you have to do is to sway your hips and move step-by-step to your left, and then to your right. You are going to follow a 4-beat counting per side.

  •        Closed Embrace/Frame

This dance move requires you and your partner to stay close while facing each other. Both the lead and the follow will extend their left/right arms to the side and should be only around shoulder height. The lead will place his other arm under the follow’s armpits. Then, the follow will place her other arm on the lead’s arm in an embracing form.

  •        Cuddle Turns

As you move on to learning Bachata dancing, you will come across this popular dance move. This is performed as the lead and follow hold each other’s hands, and the follow turns to resemble a cuddling position. Then, the performers will return to their original stance.

What to Wear and Bring to Class

For the ladies, you can wear a loose, comfortable shirt and sweatpants during class. You can also pair your shirt with comfy jeans. As we progress, you are encouraged to wear a dress, or pair a nice top with a skirt. Just ensure you wear shorts when you choose to wear a dress or skirt, so that you are not restricted (and too conscious) to move when dancing. As for your footwear, you can wear flats, but it would be more preferable if you wear heeled dancing shoes.

For the gents, you can wear a loose shirt and sweatpants as well during class. However, as we progress, you are also encouraged to wear a nicer top and pair of pants (could be jeans or slacks). As for your footwear, you can wear kicks or dancing shoes.

Don’t forget to pack your bags with bottled water, deodorant, an extra towel and a pair of flip flops.
